Gingerbread Man & Candy Canes

I discovered this cute little cookie on Pinterest the other day and immediately thought he would be perfect for this month's Reader's Art Quest on the Unruly Paper Arts blog.

This month's theme is "Gingerbread & Candy Canes."  And uses this picture for inspiration:

I fussy cut the gingerbread.  I added Stickles in red, green, white and yellow.  I used some white liquid pearls to resemble frosting.  I added 3 rhinestones for the holly berries.  I added some Crystal Effects to the candy cane and the peppermint candies to give them shine and dimension.  The lacy doily was cut with a Martha Stewart border punch.  I added 2 rhinestones candy canes as embellishments.

Hope your holidays are filled with yummy treats.......Paulette

What's New Pussycat?

This little kitty is waiting for Santa.  It's Christmas Eve and it's snowing...will Santa and his reindeer be able to make it through the snowstorm?

I designed this card for a challenge on Splitcoaststampers that requires using a movie title as inspiration---I chose "What's New Pussycat?"

I also designed this card for the December Inspiration Challenge on the Die-namites Blog.   I used the 2 Die-namites dies below:

To give the kitty dimension, I cut him out of dark gray paper 3 times and pasted the layers together.  I cut the window out of a woodgrain pattern paper and fussy cut away the bird, the birdhouse and the foliage.  I used an origami technique to design my tree.  I added a flower and some gems as accents.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas...................Paulette

Gingerbread & Candy Canes

The December Readers Art Quest challenge on the Unruly Paper Arts blog is "Gingerbread & Candy Canes.  This gingerbread house is the creative prompt:

I used paper from Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet Collection: Gingerbread Delights.  I used a doily die to cut the white circle and a NellieSnellen die to cut the green layer.  The bow was made by a die.  The candy canes were cut from pattern paper and red and crystal Stickles were added to give them sparkle.  The gingerbread boy and girl are Recollections stickers and the Santa hat is a Hobby Lobby sticker.  The card design is called "Tent Topper" --- a tutorial can be found on Splitcoaststampers.

The Santa circle, the tree with sentiment, the gift circle and the star are all punch-out die cuts from the stack.  The pattern papers are also from the FAVOR BOXES stack.  I edged some of the pieces with a gold leaf Krylon pen and added some rhinestones and diamond mesh trim.

Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus

The challenge on Rubber Dance Art Stamps Blog for Nov./Dec. uses the colors in the mood board below with an optional theme of Tis the Season.

Again for this challenge I chose my favorite Rubber Dance stamp.  I stamped it on white cardstock with Tim Holtz faded jeans ink.  I tore the edges of the image and cut out the area behind the couples heads and also cut off their hats.  I backed the cutout area with white cardstock.  The image was pasted on a piece of glittered fun foam in blue from Dollar Tree.  I used a pre-made white die-cut card from DCWV and backed the card front with a piece of red cardstock.  The bows were cut with a Tim Holtz punch and I added some rhinestones for earrings and rhinestone trim to frame the couple.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season.................Paulette

The October Stack-a-holic Challenge on the DCWV blog uses this sketch:

My card uses the DCWV Spooky Delights stack.  I won this whimsical Halloween themed stack in a DCWV Facebook comment contest.  The papers are all from this stack and the embellishments I added to my design are a Cricut ghost, a spider brad and a couple of googlie eyes.

Bought this Partying Penguin at a garage sale today for 25 cents (just saw the set on ebay for over $40!) The paper just happened to be handy---it must be serendipity. I cut out the limes and berries and popped the 2 berries up on dimensionals. The limes and berries were even pre-glittered.

This drink site has made me really thirsty---is 11:30PM still Happy Hour? TGIF---It's Part Time!

Hopeful Change

Today's Free for All Challenge on Splitcoaststampers is a tribute to Hopeful Change --- to our coming back from the tragedy of the events of 9/11. Taking something dark and transforming it to something bright. What came to mind for me was the darkness of a cold, rainy day that transforms when the sun comes out and the flowers bloom.  The "Hope" stamp is from Stamp N Plus Scrap N.  The flowers are K & Co. borders.  The tiny butterflies are from the cutouts of a Spellbinders Butterfly Circle die.  The sun is cut with a Stampin Up punch.

As we remember the tragic events of 9/11 on this anniversary, let's move forward with hope...Paulette
